AI Policy Template

Don't let the absence of an AI Policy cause a delay in getting your people using AI to accelerate their work.

🚀 Keep it short, keep it positive, make it engaging.

Here's a template you can use.

  1. Decide if you are AI-positive or AI-negative. This will determine everything that follows in your policy. (If you are AI-negative you aren't going to like the rest of this template)

  2. Get your leaders to provide a list of encouraged uses for their function or team.

  3. Build a list of company-approved AI tools

  4. Draft a list of channels that your people can use to ask questions and get help.

  5. Take your completed policy and add it into a Claude or ChatGPT Project so that your people can engage with it and ask for advice about their own ideas and experiments.

This policy template includes:

  • Purpose and scope

  • Our AI philosophy

  • Encouraged uses

  • Data and IP Protection Guidelines

  • Tool selection and approval

  • Best practices

  • Training and support

  • Compliance and monitoring

  • Review and updates

  • Getting help

Grab the template at the top of this page, and create a copy to make it your own.

Top Tip: Check out the ACME AI Policy GPT as an example - ask "can I use my personal ChatGPT subscription to create a proposal for a customer I am selling into?"
